Film Poster Analysing

1. Is the movie title prominently featured? Is the text easy to read?
Are the main actors shown? If so, which ones?

2. What is the design of the movie poster? Does it accurately reflect the mood and tone of the film?

3. What other images are included?

4. What do you notice about the framing of the images?

5. What text is shown on the poster? Is there a catchy slogan? If so, what does it tell you about the movie's story?

6. Is there any other important information included on the poster?

7. Why do/don't you think this movie poster is persuasive?

Paranormal Activity 2 Analyse

The title of the film is clearly visible, none of the main actors are shown accept from the baby and the dog (which aren’t the main characters but are seen in the film quite a bit).

The design on the movie cover is darkness (most of the activity happens during the night). Throughout watching this film, I felt intense and this cover does represent that feeling.

No other images are included within this move cover.

The image is set to look like a TV screen and having the black blocks above and below it with information and quotes from a review.

The text that is show on the cover is:
• The title
• Release date
• Quote from a review
• The website for the film
• Paramount pictures logo

The only slogan type of text on the cover is the review which reads “the most anticipated horror event of the year. Steady your nerves, your sleepless nights are about to return”.

The line “your sleepless nights are about to return” shows that it’s going to be better then the first one and have the same effect on its audience.

I do think this movie poster is persuasive because of the review quote and how the dog is barking at the bathroom door and how the baby’s attention is all focused on the bathroom as well, not knowing what is behind that door will intrigue people to come and watch it to find out.

What I don’t like about this movie cover is that it isn’t very eye catching; it’s not the best scene in the film to use as the cover.

Justin Bieber – Never Say Never

The title is clear to read if you are within a close range of it due to the grey writing and the grey/white background, the cover shows the main character being Justin Bieber.

The design of the cover is that everything is based in the centre and the colour scheme is based on the artist. The way he is facing is maybe to show off his skin or his new hair cut.

The text shown on the poster is like the same as Paranormal Activity 2, having the film title, release date, website of the film, production companies and telling the views that its’ in 3D.

This poster isn’t really that persuasive as Paranormal Activity 2 because it doesn’t show what the film is actually about apart from Justine Bieber. But I do like the way the title is placed, its going diagonal across the centre of the cover.

3 Light Set Up

In todays lesson, we took turns in taking pictures of each other using the '3 light setup' technique. Using this, it gives the picture a more richer look then an ordinary picture.
